About the Product Sorbitol, 250 g

Food-grade sorbitol by GoldenFarm is a natural sugar substitute (sweetener) intended for use in balanced and dietary nutrition as a safe alternative to traditional sucrose.

Sorbitol has a low glycemic index, does not cause sharp fluctuations in blood glucose levels, and is absorbed by the body without the direct involvement of insulin, making it popular among people who limit the consumption of conventional sugar.

The product has high thermal stability, dissolves well in water, and fully retains its properties and sweet taste during prolonged heat treatment. This allows sorbitol to be used for homemade pastries, confectionery, preservation (jams, marmalades, compotes), as well as for sweetening hot and cold beverages.

The product is characterized by high digestibility, promotes mild improvement of stomach, intestinal, and biliary system function. It helps stimulate gastric juice secretion and may exhibit choleretic properties, promoting the natural outflow of bile.

When consumed according to the recommended dosage, sorbitol may act as a gentle digestive regulator and help improve intestinal motility.

Main Properties:

  • natural sweetener that allows eliminating regular sugar from the dietary regimen;
  • helps stimulate secretion and physiological bile outflow, supporting digestive processes;
  • may exhibit a mild laxative effect and help improve bowel regularity;
  • helps inhibit the formation of ketone bodies during metabolic stress;
  • helps optimize the body's use of B vitamins (particularly B1 and B6) and biotin;
  • is not absorbed by cariogenic bacteria in the oral cavity, helping protect tooth enamel from destruction.

Who Food-Grade Sorbitol Is Suitable For

The product is recommended for dietary nutrition for adults and children as directed. It is advisable to include it in the diet of individuals who:

  • follow a dietary or diabetic nutrition plan with limited easily digestible carbohydrates and sucrose;
  • control body weight or participate in weight-loss programs (as a substitute for standard confectionery products);
  • need mild stimulation of biliary function and improvement of bile outflow;
  • are prone to frequent constipation and require delicate regulation of intestinal peristalsis;
  • have individual allergic reactions to sugar or seek a heat-stable substitute for homemade baking and preservation.

Release Form

White crystalline powder. Package: 250 g.

Recommendations for Use

Used in cooking and dietetics as a functional sugar substitute for preparing beverages, desserts, confectionery products, as well as in home practice as a means to improve intestinal motility and stimulate bile outflow.

Before use for therapeutic and preventive purposes, consultation with a physician is recommended.

Directions for Use and Dosage

Sorbitol powder is taken orally after dissolving in warm water, tea, juices, or added directly to dishes during preparation.

  • Recommended daily intake: for adults no more than 30 g.
  • Standard intake: 5–10 g (1–2 teaspoons) of powder 2–3 times daily. Take 30 minutes before meals or 1 hour after meals.
  • Preparation of aqueous solution: 10% solution (10 g powder per 100 ml warm water). Consume 50 to 150 ml of the prepared solution 2–3 times daily.

Exceeding the recommended daily intake (more than 30 g) causes a pronounced laxative effect and may result in diarrhea, bloating, flatulence, and gastrointestinal disorders. Begin use with minimal doses to assess individual tolerance.

Contraindications

  • Individual hypersensitivity to sorbitol or congenital fructose intolerance (fructosemia).
  • Gallstone disease (presence of stones in the gallbladder due to the risk of displacement caused by the choleretic effect).
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding period (due to the risk of reflex stimulation of intestinal smooth muscles).
  • Conditions accompanied by acute diarrhea or dehydration.

Scientific Evidence

  1. Scientific reviews by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) confirm that consuming foods containing sorbitol instead of sugar results in a smaller increase in blood glucose levels after ingestion compared to sugar-containing foods.
  2. According to generally accepted research data on gastrointestinal physiology, sorbitol acts as an osmotic agent in the intestinal lumen, retaining water molecules. This promotes softening of the food bolus, stimulates smooth muscle receptors, and supports natural motor-evacuation function.
  3. Clinical studies in the field of dental health demonstrate that replacing sucrose with polyols (specifically sorbitol) maintains proper oral pH. Since microflora is unable to ferment sorbitol into acidic products, this prevents enamel demineralization and protects teeth from decay.

Warnings:

  • Not a medicinal product.
  • Do not exceed the manufacturer’s recommended daily intake.
  • If you have diabetes mellitus, carbohydrate metabolism disorders, excess body weight, or other conditions requiring sugar intake control, consult your physician before use.
