They are the flavonoid silymarin and its main isomer silibinin, which act normalizing key processes in the liver, increasing hepatocytes resistance to negative environmental factors. The substances have beneficial effect to faster recovery of liver parenchyma and to primary functions of the liver, and to formation and release of bile, the secretory and motor functions of the gastrointestinal tract.
