Black Cumin has long been used in Arab and Indian cuisine recipes, is highly respected in Egypt, where it is called the "gold of the pharaohs" for its unique beneficial properties for human health. The seeds of this plant contain more than 100 active substances, only some of which have been studied by scientists. It is rich in vitamins A, E, F, B1, B3, B6, beta-carotene, biotin, numerous trace elements and antioxidants. One of the components is thymoquinone. It has anti-inflammatory, pain-relieving and protective properties, as well as a potential anti-cancer effect. This substance acts like aspirin, helps to cope with anemia by increasing the level of hemoglobin and red blood cells, provides antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal and antiparasitic properties, and is also a powerful immunomodulator.
Consumption of Black Cumin Seed prevents the formation of kidney stones and protects against liver damage. In addition, the seed counteracts baldness, preventing hair loss, and also accelerates the healing of wounds.
Clinical studies show the effectiveness of Black Cumin Seed for allergies (including allergic rhinitis, atopic eczema and bronchial asthma). Black Cumin Oil is beneficial for eliminating parasites from the body, and the seeds are useful for fighting infection because they destroy both adult parasites and their eggs, which was proven by Turkish scientists in 2005.
Thymoquinone has a healing effect on the stomach, protecting it from damage caused by ethanol, relieves the symptoms of reflux, so in the Middle East, Black Cumin Seed is often used for stomach ailments. This substance reduces the effect of oxidative stress, helps maintain the integrity of pancreatic cells, lowers glucose levels and increases insulin secretion, so Black Cumin belongs to antidiabetic products.
